It's only a few days away ... May 1 marks the beginning of Correct Posture Month, and the Georgia Chiropractic Association is urging all Georgians to stand up straight!

For Correct Posture Month, GCA joins PostureMonth.org in urging all Georgians to incorporate good posture habits into their regular routines, including:

·         Take a picture. The best way to check your posture is to take a few photos. Team up with a friend to take pictures of each other standing from the front, back and side. The front and back pictures should be symmetrical (if your head is tilted or one arm is longer than the other, your posture is incorrect).

·         Check your work space. If your job involves sitting at a desk for long periods at a time, make sure you’ve invested in a quality chair and proper adjustments that support good posture.

·         Incorporate your workout. Yoga, tai chi and pilates can help with balance, leading to improved posture.

·         Practice, practice, practice. Good posture comes from practice. You can practice your posture at home by standing against a wall. Your heels, buttocks, shoulders and head should lightly touch the wall. Your legs should be straight and head level.
