Do I need a referral from an MD to receive chiropractic treatment?

No, you do not need to have a referral from an MD to see a Doctor of Chiropractic. Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession and is regulated by the law and doctors must obtain a license to practice. Also, chiropractic treatments are covered by most insurance providers.

What are the requirements to be a Doctor of Chiropractic?

Doctors of chiropractic are required to undergo 2 - 4 years of undergraduate education, the completion of an accredited 4-5 year chiropractic college, and pass national and state examinations. In total, chiropractors complete a curriculum with a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience.
